TWE warming up for the 2017 Winter Concert

About Us

The Tartan Wind Ensemble (TWE) is a musical ensemble at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. It provides an opportunity for any person affiliated with the University, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, or alumni, to rehearse and perform in a wind ensemble in a recreational manner with no auditions.

Even during the pandemic, TWE is doing our best to continue many of the events and activities we've done in past semesters. We have General Band Meetings over Zoom and are continuing to expand upon our in-person percussion practices in order to try and give all band members and opportunity to keep playing music and develop the TWE community remotely.

FAQ

Watching TWE

TWE has two concerts a year, at the end of both the Fall and Spring semesters. Despite it being a pandemic, we're still recording virtual performances! To watch us, check us out on Youtube.
Yes you can! Since everything is currently virtual, you can see our performance(s) on our Youtube Channel.
The concert is always and forever will be absolutely free of charge!

Joining TWE

Wow first off we are so excited you are considering joining us! To join simply show up to one of our rehearsals which can be found on our calendar. We will have music for you to play, and accept all skill levels.
Nope! Any musician is welcome to join, and there are never any auditions.
We do have instruments that are available to rent out for the semester. These are available in limited supply, but it is very likely we can get you an instrument to play. We are also doing our best to schedule in person percussion rehearsals for percussionists in Pittsburgh.

Misc TWE

Yes, we would love to hear literally anything you have to say. If you would like to reach out to us via email, our email is cmutwe@gmail.com
